INTERNATIONAL POLICY LEARNING - SHARING KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION: WEB SITE GUIDE

The main purpose of this web site is to facilitate policy learning through the international exchange of knowledge and information concerning public policy and career development issues. The base for knowledge and information is two fold: studies, reports, publications and news provided to the site by you the viewers and by other international contacts; and proceedings from international symposia on career development and public policy.

Policy and Research Section

This contains studies, reports and other publications sent to us by many countries and are categorised mainly according to the sub-themes/table of contents of the European Commission and OECD joint publication Career guidance: a handbook for policy makers (2004).

Resources Section

The Articles Repository in the Resources Section contains all of the studies, reports and publications on this site presented in chronological order starting from the most recent.  Each item is  referenced according to the theme files of the Policy and Research Section and according to other categories such as world region and country. A single report/study may be referenced according to several themes,  for example, reports concerning Parents and Guidance may also be referenced under Guidance in Schools and Training.

If you have policy studies and reports in your own language for any of the themes listed and would like to share them with the international community, please forward them to jmc@iccdpp.org  with a short summary in English.  Studies and reports are also categorised by world region and by country to facilitate geographical and language search.

Symposia Section

The papers and proceedings from the International Symposia are stored in the section Symposia. The most recent of these was hosted by the UK in 2007 and titled Growth, Groups and Geographies. The previous symposium was held in Australia in 2006 and looked at the links between career development and workforce development. Web references are also given there to papers and proceedings from the international symposia hosted by Canada in 1999 and 2001, to the OECD conference in Toronto 2003, and the pan-Canadian Symposium of 2004.

Languages of the Website

The main language of the web site at this point is English but we have documents on the site in the following languages: Spanish, Portugese, French, German, Italian, Hebrew, Hungarian, Danish, Finnish, and Slovak. In any of the sections we welcome relevant reports in their language of origin accompanied by an abstract in English and in the language of origin. In the Forums and Blogs, comments in all languages are welcome.

News Feature

The news and upcoming policy events you will usually find referenced on the front page but there is also a Google News feature in the Home section and other news based on newsfeeds from other sources. More active forms of knowledge and news sharing are provided in the Forum and Blog sections. Only those who have registered on the site can use those facilities. The Forums created to date reflect themes of international interest.
